In creating a CQL driver for ruby, there are a set of thrift calls that still
have to be made to make it work correctly and that information must all be
available via CQL before thrift is removed (probably with other CQL drivers as
well). Suggested examples to start with:
* SHOW VERSION
* SHOW (KEYSPACES|DATABASE)
* SHOW KEYSPACE [<keyspace>]
* SHOW (TABLES|COLUMNFAMILIES)
* DESCRIBE (<table>|<columnfamily>)
