[~dcapwell] thank you for your comments, I did not expect such a quick
response. Happy to see that my work is not in vain.
As the PR is getting bigger than I expected, I want to start by discussing the
solution design first and some of the controversial decisions I had to make
during implementation. I'll post a new message here soon with all the details.
