Maxim Muzafarov commented on CASSANDRA-19476:
---------------------------------------------
Thanks for taking a look, Jeremiah! I thought we had already discussed this,
but then I found that it was Jake, who had [mentioned Unix sockets in the
discussion|https://lists.apache.org/thread/4oz0795rlp4gmggzdz8tgks4bp69xsg4].
Yes, it's a great idea and it is still in my plan.
I'm trying to come up with a strategy for the review and how to break this PR
down so that it doesn't bring 15k lines to the community. But so far, it seems
that the savings will not be significant. Anyway changes still require a lot of
polishing before a review can be initiated.

> We want to run management commands via CQL.
> The goals are:
> * To provide a way to run predefined management commands via CQL;
> * To provide a mechanism for retrieving command definitions and metadata via
> CQL;
> * To provide information on all available management commands via virtual
> tables;
> * To provide a registry that stores all C* commands and their metadata
> accordingly;
> * To internal instrumentation and a reasonable plan for migrating cluster
> management from JMX to CQL, taking into account backward compatibility and
> adopted deprecation policies;
