Bret McGuire commented on CASSPYTHON-14:
----------------------------------------

The numpy issue referenced above included a link to [this
discussion|https://github.com/orgs/pypy/discussions/5145] around 3.12 support
on pypy. It seems increasingly clear to me that there isn't a great intent (or
great amount of resources) to keep pace here.

I'm not going to set out to break pypy support but I don't see any obvious
reason to continue worrying about this platform. We had to make several
changes to support Python 3.12 and i don't want to worry about pypy-specific
gates for those. Perhaps more importantly the question about dependencies
removing support for older Python releases is becoming more of a thing.

> I'm not sure I'm advocating for this change... at the moment I'm just
> documenting something I'm seeing elsewhere.
>
> numpy has recently [dropped support for
> pypy|https://github.com/numpy/numpy/issues/30416].  Spark is [considering
> doing the
> same|https://lists.apache.org/thread/glcq0zgr33sozo7y4y7jqph24yh3m92p].  We
> might want to consider following suit in order to avoid supporting an
> unmaintained platform.
