Started doing cluster testing and have some early results. Seeing a
significant reduction in allocation, with compaction going from ~11% of total
allocation down to 5%. The bulk of the remainder of the time is spent in
org/apache/cassandra/io/sstable/format/bti/PartitionIndexBuilder.addEntry. At
this point this patch is big enough, I think I'll call that part out of scope
and we can address it in a different patch.
