Jane He created CASSJAVA-144:
--------------------------------

Summary: Move ASF CI from ci-cassandra Jenkins to GH Action
                 Key: CASSJAVA-144
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSJAVA-144
             Project: Apache Cassandra Java driver
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Tests
            Reporter: Jane He
            Assignee: Jane He

Rationale

Pro:
 # ci-cassandra Jenkins instance frequently runs out of runners or storage, in
these cases we can't run our CI or get it back without pinging someone
 # moving Java driver CI away can also bring relief to Cassandra server's CI on
ci-cassandra
 # Using Github Action will allow anyone in the world to kick off a CI run from
their own fork, regardless of whoever's runner shortage. This is a huge perk.
 # it's already broken since we build with Java 17, so someone need to fix it.
Historically I work on it, but due to changes at my work I don't have an easy
way to test Jenkinsfile changes on ci-cassandra clone anymore.
 # Proved to be working well from Node.js driver's CI. Can largely reuse the
code.

Con:

Apache is also running short of Github action runners. But Node.js driver's GHA
CI is doing fine, and in case of apache running short of GHA runners, anyone
still can kick off a run from their own fork.
