The fix seems to have been lost during a merge.
The [trunk version of
debian/cassandra.postinst|https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf?p=cassandra.git;a=blob;f=debian/cassandra.postinst]
doesn't contain the changes from Paul's fix in commit
