Michael Kjellman commented on CASSANDRA-5108:
---------------------------------------------
v.1 of this could simply be to log *failure* or *success* to system.log
bug progress is 100% a better option imho.
> expose overall progress of cleanup tasks in jmx

> Key: CASSANDRA-5108

> Project: Cassandra
> Issue Type: New Feature
> Affects Versions: 1.2.0
> Reporter: Michael Kjellman
> Priority: Minor
>
> it would be nice if, upon starting a cleanup operation, cassandra could
> maintain a Set (i assume this already exists as we have to know which file to
> act on next) and a new set of "completed" sstables. When each is compacted
> remove it from the pending list. That way C* could give an overall completion
> of the long running and pending cleanup tasks.
