Daniel Shelepov commented on CASSANDRA-6467:
--------------------------------------------

As far as this failure, I cannot reproduce. My run goes all the way to
completion, although there is some issue on Reduce stage... but that's
something else to be investigated.

Meanwhile, based on the breadcrumbs left in the gist log, I am guessing that
you're running another older instance of Cassandra (< 1.2) or maybe some other
thrift server on localhost that holds port 9160. Make sure that port 9160 is
clear before starting the example, and try again.

If after these steps the issue still exists (with the same thrift exception),
feel free to reopen this issue.

> I am trying to run the Hadoop CQL3 example as per the instructions on this
> page
> https://github.com/apache/cassandra/tree/trunk/examples/hadoop_cql3_word_count
> I cloned the cassandra repo from gihub, switched to branch cassandra-2.0 and
> followed the instructions for building and running cassandra. Then I built
> and ran the hadoop cql3 example and I am getting an exception as shown the
> gist below. I did not make any changes to the code after cloning the repo.
