Apache Cayenne JPA

Some parts of the Java Persistence API (JPA) specification (JSR-220), also known as EJB3, have been implemented in Cayenne. However a full implementation is not available and therefore Cayenne cannot be said to comply with JSR-220. Some more useful parts of the specification are available, such as lifecycle events and EJBQL. These will make the job of porting an application from a JSR-220 compliant ORM to Cayenne somewhat simpler, but it is not a matter of replacing your old jar with Cayenne and having everything just work.

The Cayenne API is a powerful and intuitive way of interacting with your data, and in the developers' opinion a more flexible and powerful approach than sticking to a pure JSR-220 interface. There is no short term plan to complete the JPA integration of Cayenne.
