Description:
As of 2025-10-10 Derby project is retired.
Per CAY-2861 we do an upgrade to the latest version as an easy step. Next is to
phase it out completely, keeping only as a deprecated DbAdapter.
In the general tests we are already covered as we can use any DB supported by
the Cayenne.
Need to rethink {{maven-plugin}}, {{ant}} and {{gradle-plugin}} test infra.
Exact parts that depend on Derby:
- {{cayenne-ant}}: single test DbImporterTaskTest
- {{cayenne-maven-plugin}}: a lot of tests, actual DB import tool coverage
- {{cayenne-gradle-plugin}}: several integration tests, see BaseTaskIT
- docs and tutorial
