## Summary - Raise the PXF server and automation build baseline from Java 11 to Java 17. - Run PXF CI, Testcontainers images, and package build/smoke checks with Java 17. - Keep Java 8 for Hadoop/Hive and the HBase RegionServer comparator library. - Update Java installation and upgrade documentation. ## Local verification - Gradle `assemble test` on JDK 17: 1390 passed, 3 skipped, 0 failed (1393 total). - Maven automation main and test sources recompiled on JDK 17 (`-DskipTests`). - Verified class-file versions: PXF API 61 (Java 17), HBase comparator library 52 (Java 8). - Shell syntax, workflow YAML parsing, and Git whitespace checks passed.
