Yep, not sure why this happens, but we can't merge like this, even though
the source of the problem was Github; it complicates reviewing the PR, and also
adds an extra step to future troubleshooting since every git blame of this file
is going to point to this PR.
You could try reverting the commit and applying the changes manually
through the IDE.
