Sorry for not testing earlier, but with this commit my thinkpad T42p no longer boots with acpi enabled. It spits out some warnings and then hangs (see http://www.ecademix.com/JohannesHofmann/tmp/acpi.jpg for a screenshot).
I think I have the same issue on my desktop. Plainly hangs there. If I set acpi_dsdt_load in loader.conf (why can't I disable that from loader directly?), new ACPI will segfault (NULL pointer) somewhere in AcpiDsDeleteTable or so (need to try again), even before the system can hang :) Without the table, however, I get shitloads of stray interrupt 7's (making the boot take about 5 minutes or so). Yet, they stop occuring when init gets started. Last message from the kernel then is: intr 5: livelock removed. I can't help myself, but I think interrupt 5 and 7 somehow belong together there. cheers simon -- Serve - BSD +++ RENT this banner advert +++ ASCII Ribbon /"\ Work - Mac +++ space for low €€€ NOW!1 +++ Campaign \ / Party Enjoy Relax | http://dragonflybsd.org Against HTML \ Dude 2c 2 the max ! http://golden-apple.biz Mail + News / \
