for each mailing list and I store all messages on server (IMAP).  This gives me a) access 
from everywhere  b) flags (read/deleted/important) for every mail  c) "topic" 
sorting.

Of course I don't want to suggest switching, but I can tell you that working 
this way is very efficient :)
