How do you measure reliability?  I don't remember any other version
control system that serves open source community as long as CVS.

You can't take a automatic benchmark, of course.  But you could -- for example 
-- review code + development process and underlying data structures.  The nice 
thing about CVS is that basically everything is in plain text and available in 
separate files.
