Unfortunately shading does not look possible. The APIs are slightly different
and not compatible between the versions. Because of this, it requires code
change. This is my conclusion. Please look at the bookkeeper pull request and
you'll see the code that needs to change. Do share your ideas how we could
achieve shading there.
