bit_length function error
```
MySQL [(none)]> select bit_length("abc");
ERROR 1064 (HY000): errCode = 2, detailMessage = No matching function with
signature: bit_length(varchar(-1)).
```
in mysql
```
mysql> select bit_length("abc");
+-------------------+
| bit_length('abc') |
+-------------------+
| 24 |
+-------------------+
1 row in set (0.01 sec)
