Review Comment: Fixed in `b45604b510a`. This reproduces as described. Into a format-version 3 Iceberg table `(id INT, payload VARIANT)` on a local cluster, `INSERT INTO t SELECT 1, ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY IF(TRUE, v, 1)) FROM (SELECT parse_to_variant('{"k":1}') AS v) s` failed with `VARIANT write cannot safely convert input column 'payload': source expression implicitly casts VARIANT to DECIMALV3(38, 9) before sink analysis`. So did the same statement with `COUNT(*) OVER (PARTITION BY IF(TRUE, v, 1))`, with `GROUP_CONCAT('x' ORDER BY IF(TRUE, v, 1))`, and with `ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY k)` over a subquery that computes `k` with that cast. Branch-4.x rejects them too, since its check searches the whole written expression. A window now contributes only its function to the values that are checked, and the ORDER BY of an aggregate function (an `OrderExpression` child, as in GROUP_CONCAT) nothing, so the slots read only by those keys are not traced either, as with the conditions of IF and CASE. On the same cluster the four statements now write `1`, `1`, `"x"` and `1`, while `FIRST_VALUE(IF(TRUE, v, 1)) OVER (ORDER BY id)`, whose cast is in the function argument and so is written, still fails with the same error. Tests: `VariantWritePlanValidatorTest.testWindowAndAggregateOrderingKeysAreNotWrittenValues` analyzes the four statements and accepts them, and rejects `FIRST_VALUE(IF(TRUE, v, 1)) OVER (ORDER BY id)` and `GROUP_CONCAT(CAST(IF(TRUE, v, 1) AS STRING) ORDER BY id)`. Tracing the keys of a window, or the ORDER BY of an aggregate function, turns it red. ########## fe/fe-core/src/main/java/org/apache/doris/datasource/VariantWritePlanValidator.java: ########## @@ -0,0 +1,448 @@ +// Licensed to the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) under one +// or more contributor license agreements. When each CTE reads the previous one once for `v0` alone and once for `v0` together with another column (`COALESCE(v0, v<i>) AS v0`), the sets requested from the CTE k levels down double with k, and 24 levels request 2^24 sets of the first one. Fixed in `7e9ef143a83`: the traces are now cached per producer output, keyed by the CTE and the output, and a consumer combines those of the outputs it requests, so a producer is traced at most once for each of its outputs, whichever sets the consumers request. Tracing the outputs one at a time gives the same result as tracing them together, since each output is validated and traced on its own and the results are combined. Tests: `VariantWritePlanValidatorTest.testCteOutputsRequestedInManySetsAreTracedOnceEach` validates that 24-level chain within a 30-second timeout, and still rejects it when the loss sits in the column that only the top level combines into `v0`. Caching per set of requested outputs, as the previous commit did, times it out; dropping the cache times out both this test and the 30-level one. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
