commit 38d51ed68f58649235d42916d51398dc7dab6934

    [improvement](i18n) Publish body-only corrections and refresh only on
source changes (#4545)

    A developer currently cannot publish a correction to a Japanese, Korean
    or Russian document by editing its body alone: the old target hash
    produces target_modified, and adopting ownership: human permanently
    stops later automatic source updates. Make the existing automation
    ledger internal and let corresponding English/Chinese source revisions
    determine regeneration.

    With source inputs unchanged, a body-only PR now passes admission,
    renders the corrected translation and remains outside model selection.
    Git derives the acknowledged source pair from the target's own
    content-changing commit; no shard edit, hash calculation, legacy
    migration or ownership flag is required. A later change to either
    corresponding source permits regeneration. English remains authoritative
    for technical facts, with Chinese supplied as supplementary context; a
    Chinese-only change forces refresh instead of reusing every unchanged
    English block. Automatic generation records both source fingerprints
    normally. Existing ledgers are read without a mass metadata migration,
    and registered manually created translations can start without a ledger.

    Keep open-PR reservations and target/state race guards. Include Chinese
    counterparts in generation/publication drift checks and reject
    uncommitted source inputs. Dev/4.x can share a new result only when
    their Chinese references also match. Preserve historical blog exclusion,
    English/Chinese-only legacy versions and paused groups. Mark repository
    edits separately from complete human proofreading and replace the old
    manual-state instructions with the body-only contributor workflow.

    Validation:

    - 416 Node checks: 414 passed, 2 conditional skips; 27 workflow/security
    checks passed. Offline configuration validation and all-locale
    source-history validation passed.
    - Real isolated five-language fixture: the contributor commit changes
    exactly three translation bodies and zero ledger files; normal
    translation admission, SSR, canonical/indexing, manual provenance and
    Chromium hydration pass. Updating the Chinese counterpart subsequently
    makes all three translations eligible for regeneration.
    - Real-Git regression cases cover JA/KO/RU body-only edits,
    unchanged/unrelated sources, English-only and Chinese-only updates,
    formerly human-owned records, missing initial ledgers, concurrent
    target/source edits, protected SQL/numerical facts, forced-plan
    rejection, CRLF/checkout stability, identical-target source refresh
    publication and Dev/4.x reference isolation.
    - Read all real records without errors: JA 3,296, KO 3,389, RU 3,380;
    effective source snapshots use cached Git trees rather than one
    subprocess per normal page. Only small isolated fixtures were built
    locally.

    | Repository review checkpoint | Conclusion |
    | --- | --- |
    | Goal | Developers submit only translated prose; matching source-pair
    changes control regeneration. |
    | Focus | Reuses existing native adapters, state readers, planner and
    guarded writer; no state-adoption workflow or extra bot metadata
    commits. |
    | Information architecture | Existing versions, plugins, scope
    exceptions and blog history policy remain authoritative. |
    | URLs / anchors / navigation | No moves, slugs or navigation changes;
    native metadata, technical-content and heading checks remain enforced. |
    | Frontend / mobile / SSR / themes | Adds a localized manual-edit notice
    through the existing five-language message map; no
    styling/layout/theme-token changes. |
    | Validation | Existing checks plus real Git, normal admission and
    five-language SSR/browser fixtures cover the contributor workflow. |
    | Other correctness / maintenance | Retains race protection, source
    provenance and honest review identity; implicit adoption also rejects
    symlinks in files or their parent directories; no new permissions,
    secrets or dependencies. |

    Self-review found no remaining blocking issue. Normal PR checks must
    pass on the final head before merge.

 ## Correct a translation manually

-You can edit a Japanese, Korean or Russian target in `i18n/<locale>/`. A
target hash mismatch becomes `target_modified`: generation and write-back stop
for that page, and publication falls back to English. The checks also protect
edits made after a model request starts. An open human PR reserves or blocks
its target during scheduled reconciliation.
+Developers edit only the Japanese, Korean or Russian body under
`i18n/<locale>/` and submit the usual PR. They do not edit state shards,
calculate hashes, migrate a legacy record or set ownership/review flags. For a
Dev document, edit `i18n/ja/docusaurus-plugin-content-docs/current/<path>.md`;
use `version-4.x/` for 4.x. The same procedure applies to Korean and Russian
and to admitted new blogs.

-To publish the correction and keep future automation from replacing it:
+1. Start from current `master`, revise the translation against its source, and
preserve routing, links, code and technical facts.
+2. Submit only the body changes. Normal PR admission checks syntax, source
consistency, protected technical content and the applicable native build. Open
human PRs reserve or block their targets during scheduled reconciliation.
+3. Merge after review and CI. The `master` push triggers the normal website
publishing workflow; the correction appears after that publication succeeds.
+4. Subsequent translation scans retain the correction while the corresponding
English and Chinese input bytes are unchanged. Unrelated documents, ledger
timestamps, glossary/tool changes and translation-body edits alone do not
permit retranslation.
+5. When either corresponding source changes, automatic maintenance may update
the translation and its internal state through the usual PR flow. English
remains authoritative for technical facts; the current Chinese counterpart is
supplementary context. A missing Chinese counterpart is tracked too, so
creating or deleting it is a source change.

-1. Edit the target and review it against the English revision in its effective
state record. Most records are page shards under
`translations/state/<locale>/pages/`. Some Japanese records still exist only in
`translations/state/ja/docs.json`: copy that record unchanged into `{
"schemaVersion": 1, "page": <record> }` at the path returned by
`stateFileFor(record)` in `scripts/i18n/state.cjs`, then update the new shard.
A shard supersedes the legacy entry; do not edit an obsolete legacy cop [...]
-2. Set the shard's `page.targetHash` to the SHA-256 of the exact UTF-8 target
bytes and set `page.ownership` to `human`. Preserve the recorded source
revision when it is unchanged. For example, after reviewing a Japanese blog
correction, run the following with its actual shard path:
+`translations/config.json` enables `maintenancePolicy: source-revisions-v1`.
The state readers derive an effective record from Git: an edited target
acknowledges the English/Chinese revisions present in its own content-changing
commit. A later upstream source change is not hidden by that edit. A registered
manual translation without a pre-existing state record follows the same rule.
Local uncommitted target edits can be previewed, but do not count as merged
coverage and cannot be replace [...]

-   ```bash
-   node - translations/state/ja/pages/blog/current/example.mdx.json <<'NODE'
-   const fs = require('node:fs');
-   const {hash} = require('./scripts/i18n/state.cjs');
-   const {safeFile} = require('./scripts/i18n/translation-engine.cjs');
-   const file = safeFile(process.cwd(), process.argv[2]);
-   const state = JSON.parse(fs.readFileSync(file, 'utf8'));
-   const page = state.page;
-   if (hash(fs.readFileSync(safeFile(process.cwd(), page.sourcePath), 'utf8'))
!== page.sourceHash)
- throw new Error('Source changed: review and synchronize the source
revision first');
-   page.targetHash = hash(fs.readFileSync(safeFile(process.cwd(),
page.targetPath), 'utf8'));
-   page.ownership = 'human';
-   fs.writeFileSync(file, JSON.stringify(state, null, 2) + '\n');
-   NODE
-   ```
+The JSON files remain automation provenance. A manual-only PR need not create
any metadata commit; readers resolve its effective hashes and source revisions
without writing the checkout. Generation refreshes the ordinary page record and
both source fingerprints when it actually produces an update. Legacy records
are read automatically. `ownership: human` is no longer a permanent generation
lock under this policy: source changes determine eligibility. `reviewStatus:
manual` identifies rep [...]

-3. Submit the target and matching shard in the same PR. Preserve
`reviewStatus: machine` unless human proofreading actually occurred; then
record the real review. `reviewStatus: human` alone does **not** transfer
ownership.
-4. Run the applicable PR checks and inspect the published page. Once the
English source changes, a human-owned page can fall back to English until its
target and source revision are manually synchronized. Automation reports the
work for human review and does not replace it.
-
-Updating only `targetHash` while leaving `ownership: machine` allows a later
English source update to generate a new translation. Use `ownership: human` for
continuing manual control. Do not blindly refresh source hashes or change
ownership back to machine to clear an exception.
+Target/state changes during a model request still discard its candidate;
English or Chinese changes during generation or publication do too. The
publisher cannot force an unchanged-source page through an old or hand-written
plan. Historical blog exclusion, English/Chinese-only old versions and paused
generation groups retain their existing scope rules.
