Disclaimer, we also do work together. @gianm has architected and developed significant components to Druid including the indexing service, SQL support, groupBy v2, expressions, and scan query, all of which have been changes as large as this one and all of which have worked near flawlessly in production, all while unlocking future key future features that will take Druid to the next level. He is also the primary architect on other major features including Druid's security framework, revamped batch ingestion, improved histogram support, system tables, greatly improved docs, and much more. I can't name another active committer with anywhere near the same level of contribution and track record. That is enough validation for my vote.
