book](https://www.amazon.com/Art-Readable-Code-Practical-Techniques-ebook/dp/B0064CZ1XE)
advocates for using the "numSomething" naming and after reading it I changed
my former preference of calling things in plural (like `threads`) to
`numThreads`.
