Thank you @AryanVBW ! I'll merge this since [I'm now able to do so](https://lists.apache.org/thread/yxcvyn0wn3xvvzvmldgl5z6kmz2by4r4). I only skimmed the code changes. I'll review them line by line if something breaks.
