Closing this PR as the implementation requires more discussion.
The main challenge is that `ratchetFrom('origin/main')` fails in CI
environments using shallow clone (GitHub Actions) because the reference doesn't
exist.
I've documented possible solutions in the issue #9834 for future
contributors to pick up.
