   @diqiu50 Follow-up with measurements (single server, MySQL 8.0.35, 64
clients on `GET /api/metalakes`, fresh server per setting, 3 × 15 s rounds).
New MySQL connections per round: `maxIdle = 10` 1,367–2,726, `32` 272–439, `64`
1–2, `100` 1–16; p99 (rounds 2–3) went from 211–234 ms at 10 to 163–180 ms at
64. So the churn is exactly the `returnObject` effect you described, and it
disappears once the limit reaches the in-use concurrency. Because retained idle
connections multiply across servers and are released slowly, I kept the default
at the previous `10` and documented the measured trade-off so high-concurrency
deployments can raise it. Details are in the PR description; done in d7e1f49c11.
