Sean,
Thanks for the suggestion for an improvement.  Are you able to contribute any 
code toward making this happen?  We're happy to accept contributions if you're 
in a position to do so! :-)

As a work-around, you should be able to take the mpeg4/m4v file and feed it 
through ffmpeg to get the type of file you're looking for.
