Michael Jumper commented on GUACAMOLE-124:

Another great thing within Vmware is the on-top menu, there you can see several
options like exit fullscreen, send keys, etc,. If we could change the
CTRL-ALT-SHIFT function with this one I think it's more clear to end users.

Perhaps, but such changes would need to be made carefully. The UI design
principles of a virtualization solution (or a traditional remote desktop
client) and Guacamole are very different. There's no question that sending
common key combinations or providing fullscreen enter/exit buttons would be
useful features, but there are other factors specific to Guacamole which need
to be kept in mind as we consider approach.

Guacamole is above all intended to provide a seamless experience. To us, this
means:

# To the extent possible with current technology, and given the state of the
user's network/computer, full-screen Guacamole should not be distinguishable
from local access. Consider this the ultimate goal of the software.
# To the extent that this is *not* possible (it definitely currently isn't),
anything which mitigates these deficiencies must not itself make things worse
(ie: must not be a step backward from that ultimate goal).

In practice, this means that the only UI component that should be visible at
all by default is the display itself. Everything else needs to be kept out of
the way, yet accessible if necessary.

This is not to say that these features are incompatible with the design of
Guacamole ... it just means there is much thinking to be done.

> Like I posted on the mailinglist it's like this:
> Vmware recently released their 6.5 version of ESXi. Toghether with the new
> release they have implemented a quite good working web interface.
> It's possible to open the console of a machine and see it in a HTML5 window.
> Besides that it's possible to execute it fullscreen. Within Guacamole right
> now you have to execute the remote desktop first, then F11 making it
> fullscreen.
> Another great thing within Vmware is the on-top menu, there you can see
> several options like exit fullscreen, send keys, etc,. If we could change the
> CTRL-ALT-SHIFT function with this one I think it's more clear to end users.
