Thank you @joshfischer1108, I really appreciate someone with your OSS experience giving this a review. It is fortunate you did not review anything yet because the changes I am making today will improve performance and tidy up the code significantly. I run the complete battery of tests using a clean Heron Ubuntu 18 LTS Docker container before merging.
