The concern is that users CAN use the function in the wrong way. Avoiding it in code would be nice; protecting the case might be helpful and acceptable too; otherwise very clear documentation and education is needed (we should have it anyway though). I think maosong prefers to have one of the first 2 options available. Maybe we should have an example code for presave() function if we want to cover stateful process?
