I worked on it a while ago but never upstreamed the local changes. Ran into some issues making Hive queries work which is also fixed. I'll rebase this by tomorrow and hopefully address most of the comments by Monday. @yanghua Please take a look at this PR when you get a chance and we can follow it up with thoughts/ideas you may have.
