Review comment:
We are not committing or rolling back here. To be clean, we would want the
state transitions of actions (commint/deltacommit/clean/..) to reach their
final state (completed or rolled-back) unless some exceptions happen. In this
case, I think it is ok to go ahead and commit the delete operation.
