This is a large issue that we are looking into closely. Its not simple to do
this change. RDD/avro is important for deltaStreamer/ingestion use cases that
read from kafka (which typically has avro data).
I dont think its related to this ticket? Can we move this discussion to the RFC
vinoyang has.
