With Async compaction, previously failed compactions are retried before new
compactions are run. With inline compaction, this failure retry is not getting
done.
As async compaction is the de-facto mode for MOR table, we haven't noticed this
problem in the community. But, this was reported recently as part of
[https://github.com/apache/hudi/issues/1764#issuecomment-648882567]
