I believe this is the problem: #8583 Spark won't be happy if cleaner is shutdown with `System.exit(1)` I'll post a PR for you to test out soon. Off the topic: Using Hudi 0.14.0 on EMR 6.12 that only supports 0.13.1 is not recommended for production use.
