This issue was reviewed as part of the JIRA-migrated backlog triage. Findings: Full schema evolution (RFC-33, hoodie.schema.on.read.enable) including column RENAME is implemented and validated on master. Regression coverage exists in TestSpark3DDL.scala - e.g. 'Test alter table properties and add rename drop column with table services' (line 318), 'Test alter column by add rename and drop' (line 584), and 'Test alter column with complex schema' (rename at line 763). The originally referenced test PR #3668 was never merged, but the feature and its validation shipped via other work. If you're still hitting this on a recent version, please reopen with repro steps.
