This issue was reviewed as part of the JIRA-migrated backlog triage. Findings: this was delivered by PR #9433 (HUDI-6686, "Handling empty commits after s3 applyFilter api"), verified merged on 2023-08-15 as commit 7eef7d93. When the S3 filter produces an empty datasource after applyFilter, the incremental source now returns immediately instead of getting stuck while commits continue to land. The fix shipped in 0.14.0+.
