This issue was reviewed as part of the JIRA-migrated backlog triage (HUDI-7252). **Findings: still open.** A test-coverage task with a boilerplate-only body, so the matrix is undefined. Coverage gaps cannot be disproved by searching, so the assignee should confirm current state. The one substantive point: this predates the design that shipped. Partial update support landed via PR #13498 (`[HUDI-8401][RFC-97] Add partial update support with merge mode`, merged 2025-07-15), so a test matrix written now should target `PartialUpdateMode` as delivered. And #17115 (HUDI-9644) is open to revisit that design again for MERGE INTO encoding, so it is worth checking whether the design is settled before investing in a large matrix. Enumerating the intended cases on this ticket - merge modes, COW and MOR, compaction, and the log-block encoding paths - would make it independently workable.
