This issue was reviewed as part of the JIRA-migrated backlog triage (HUDI-7251). **Findings: the linked PR is open but long-stale, and the surrounding design has moved on.** PR #10462 (`[HUDI-7251] [WIP] Support partial schema for CDC workload`) is open and unmerged, still marked WIP, and has been since early 2024. So nothing has landed. More importantly, partial update support landed separately in the meantime: PR #13498 (`[HUDI-8401][RFC-97] Add partial update support with merge mode`, merged 2025-07-15) established the current `PartialUpdateMode` design. This ticket predates that, so #10462's approach may no longer be the right shape. Suggest re-scoping the `AppendHandle` improvement against the current design before reviving #10462. Note #17115 (HUDI-9644) is already open to revisit `PartialUpdateMode` itself in light of MERGE INTO encoding, so the target is still moving. The partial-update family in this batch is #17213, #17220, #17243, #17244 and #17245 - all under HUDI-7229 and all pre-dating RFC-97.
