This issue was reviewed as part of the JIRA-migrated backlog triage (HUDI-9624). **Findings: still open.** A usability follow-up to work that has landed. PR #13517 (`[HUDI-9560] Add support event_time metadata`) merged 2025-07-30 under the RFC-97 epic (#17074), and this ticket asks that users be told they need to set `hoodie.write.track.event.time.watermark` for the tracking to happen. So the feature exists and the discoverability does not. A config that must be set for a feature to do anything at all is the case where silence is most costly - the user sees no error and no metadata. Two cheap options worth stating on the ticket: a docs entry on the metadata/event-time page, or a one-time INFO log when event-time metadata is requested but the tracking config is off.
