yihua opened a new pull request, #20174: URL: https://github.com/apache/hudi/pull/20174
### Describe the issue this Pull Request addresses issue: #20168 ### Summary and Changelog Claims RFC-114 in `rfc/README.md` for a new merge-on-read operation mode that writes each update as a positional delete against the record's current file group plus an insert into a new file slice, so that log files carry positional deletes only and every live record stays in a base file. The mode makes a Hudi table representable by storage layouts built on data files plus deletion vectors, which is what engines interoperating through the pluggable table format need. The RFC content follows in a separate PR. ### Impact Documentation only. ### Risk Level none ### Documentation Update none ### Contributor's checklist - [x] Read through [contributor's guide](https://hudi.apache.org/contribute/how-to-contribute) - [x] Enough context is provided in the sections above - [ ] Adequate tests were added if applicable -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
