Closing this in favor of #19946, which fixes the same issue (repeated `view.sync()` when an async clean completes during a write) and was opened earlier and has already gone through review. Sorry for the noise, I missed it when searching before filing. One gap I found while working on this, which I've raised on #19946: if **more than one** clean completes after the client loaded its timeline, the trailing-clean exception no longer applies.
