Hi @numinnex and other repo maintainers, I saw this issue is already assigned and I do not want to duplicate active work. I found the related clarification in #3028 that compression is currently unsupported, and that disk compression, network compression, and combined compression are separate future work areas. Since the existing topic compression metadata can be user-facing, I opened a small docs-only PR to clarify that these values are placeholders today and to point users to the current message-header workaround: apache/iggy#3366 This PR does not change runtime behavior. If maintainers prefer rejecting topic create/update with unsupported compression instead of documenting the placeholder behavior, I can adjust or open a follow-up issue for that. I’m also interested in helping with harder systems engineering work in this area later, especially storage, networking, performance, or kernel-adjacent work, once the desired direction for #18 is clear. If this is actively being worked on, I will pick another issue -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
