thanks for pushing this so far. your last comment pretty much nails why we're dropping purge: keeping it correct across restarts, repair and state transfer needs way too much machinery. we decided to remove the purge API from the server and all SDKs, and i'll open the removal pr today. closing this together with #4128 and #3793. #4266 still matters for the rest of the recovery work. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
