Currently we support Python 2.5 which adds a bunch of overhead and additional
checks to the code.
Judging this document[1], Python 2.5 usage is sufficiently low to make sense
for us to drop support for it in the next release. This will allow us to remove
a bunch of code and make the existing code simpler.
