Good news. I managed to run Netbeans locally against JDK 9 (by running
nbbuild/netbeans/bin/netbeans64.exe directly) and compared the performance with
and without the diff.
I can confirm that the proposed patch fixes the problem.
[~jlahoda] Can you create a pull-request for the patch and merge it? Or do you
