Christian Lenz commented on NETBEANS-1232:
------------------------------------------
In general it should be only copying folders from one to another or am I wrong?
Not a big deal here, right? Of course if I have plugins that are not installed
in NB 9 or wherever, NB can still copy the "folders" or "files" and ignore them
inside of NetBeans. They should be still there but not used at all. This is not
only to figure out which plugin makes the problem, it is a general problem what
NetBeans does.
New scenario, if NetBeans would have only one property or better a json file
with all settings from NetBeans itselfs and the plugins should write into it,
if NetBeans imports settings it will be blazing fast like copying only one file
and ignore all settings that are not used.
I know that this is an other topic but this is, in my opinion the root problem
of this. You say I have to set up a clean installation of both. But this is not
my scenario. I want to use NB 9, import my settings (which is still possible
from the very first beginning) and plugins and thats it. I can live for the
moment with that 10 min problem because now I can use NB 9.0 with my settings
but sure for fixing stuff we need researching the problem, I know. Atm this is
my update of this.
FYI, I couldn't find the folder org.openide.awt.MenuBar.

> I opened NetBeans 9.0 for the first time and it asks me whether I want to
> import my settings from 8.2 or not. I hit yes and I waited 5min (started at
> 10:33 to import and ended at 10:38). This is way to long. I opened the
> messages.log but there is no exception or whatever inside.
> I can't cancel that dialog or close it this is why I set it to critical.
> NetBeans opened after 5min, after the import was finished.
> Cheers
