Hi, folks.
I have the same issue. As I know this issue is a longe time awaiting to be
fixed. And core netbeans developers can not fix this about several years.
For now I only can disable "Enable auto-scanning of sources" checkbox in
"Options" -> "Miscellaneous" -> "Files" tab
But when I do so, than Code InteliSence did not work.
PS
I have't this issue on my old Netbeans 8.2.
But as I know someone has the same issue also on Netbeans 8.2
My PC
* OS: Ubuntu 18.04
* CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz
* RAM: 24GiB System Memory
- 8GiB DIMM DDR4 Synchronous 2400 MHz (0,4 ns)
- 16GiB DIMM DDR4 Synchronous 2400 MHz (0,4 ns)
* VGA: Radeon HD 7450

> High CPU usage by Checking for external changes (suspended)
> -----------------------------------------------------------

> Key: NETBEANS-2940
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-2940
> Project: NetBeans
> Issue Type: Bug
> Affects Versions: 10.0, 11.1
> Reporter: E Dementiev
> Priority: Major
>
> Very often Netbeans would start consuming high CPU resources for the job of
> Checking for external changes, which sits in suspended status. If you click
> on the cross and manually cancel that job, the CPU will keep being consumed.
> The only way to stop this is to completely close Netbeans. Upon closing, it
> will say that it is still checking for external changes.
