John Neffenger commented on NETBEANS-3364:
------------------------------------------
While I've been using NetBeans, I installed the [Snap
package|https://snapcraft.io/netbeans] for NetBeans 11, the [_zip_
file|https://netbeans.apache.org/download/archive/index.html] download for
NetBeans 9 and 10, and the [Ubuntu
package|https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=netbeans&searchon=names&exact=1&suite=all§ion=all]
for NetBeans 8 and earlier. I can't tell any difference—in performance or any
other aspect—between the three installation types. What feature of the NetBeans
Snap installation is running slower for you?
I do prefer the Ubuntu package as the best trusted source, but I see installing
the PPA and the Snap as equally insecure. I only install a Snap package if it
comes from a (preferably verified) source that I trust.
> Provide a PPA for Ubuntu so that user can Update/ Install Netbeans easily.
