When using the "Generate entity from database" option NetBeans scans the entire
database first to present information about the available tables. This process
takes a very long time. I don't think it is necessary to scan all tables at
this stage (I might be wrong). I think that it would be more efficient if only
table names were presented at this stage, and only tables chosen by the user
were scanned to show all requirements and dependencies in the next step. That
would save a lot of time for the user.
