John Neffenger commented on NETBEANS-904:
-----------------------------------------
This problem also shows up when using the Adobe Source Code Pro font, which is
[missing a few
characters|https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-code-pro/issues/226] commonly
found in README files, for example. The only font I could find that displays
the "U+2714 ✔ HEAVY CHECK MARK" character is DejaVu Sans Mono. I'm attaching
screenshots that show the character in NetBeans using both DejaVu Sans Mono and
Source Code Pro Medium.
On Ubuntu, it would be great to be able to define DejaVu Sans Mono as a general
fallback font.

> Currently I can't type text that the font cannot represents.(It is displayed
> as broken text)
> I would like to use back-up font options like _Fallback Fonts_ in IntelliJ
> IDEA.
